The
word Stress! Olden days it was under control nowadays it has become a part of
life. We use when we feel that everything seems become out of our control – we
are overburdened and wonder whether we really can handle the burden placed upon
us. Often we talk about the word Stress but we are not sure about what it is?
This is happen due to the fact every individual is unique/different, the way we
one person see it is not necessary other we look at it the same way. In
addition, most of the time stress can be good or bad. If we do not feel some
kind of stress then we will not be alive.
Stress
is not an easy term to define because it is such a highly subjective phenomenon
that it defies definition. In addition, if you cannot define stress, how can
you possibly measure it? Hans Selye, as it is currently used coined the term
“stress”, in 1936, who defined it as "the non-specific response of the
body to any demand for change". Selye had noted in numerous experiments
that laboratory animals subjected to acute but different noxious physical and
emotional stimuli (blaring light, deafening noise, extremes of heat or cold,
perpetual frustration) all exhibited the same pathologic changes of stomach
ulcerations, shrinkage of lymphoid tissue and enlargement of the adrenals. In
other words, “Anything that poses a challenge or a threat to our well being is
a stress.”
In
little doses, stress can support us in enhancing the energy level and keep us
vigilant. This type of stress is good. As the trigger level increases, stress
eventually surpasses our strength to cope in a confident of positive way. Every
individual reacts to stress triggers differently only the person undergoing can
assess the tolerance to stress condition.
The
effective way is to keep away from the situations, which are likely to
overwhelm your ability to challenge stress. In addition, most of the time it
becomes impossible because the stressor attack from the outside stimulus and
which are out of control.
